Fiona Banner

Fiona Banner's work appeals to me for the same reasons. I like the way that she has taken one piece of punctuation so literally and turned it into a physical 3D object. The fact that she has chosen to do this with a full stop as opposed to a different punctuation also seems significant because full stops are visually onomatopoeic (if that is a thing?). When I see her full stops I imagine they have just purposefully landed from the sky. Her use of car paint for her metal full stops also makes me imagine them being manufactured in a mechanical workshop setting, ready to travel, which makes me consider the manufacturing of non-physical full stops in day to day life when we have conversations, thoughts or take actions.

Banner's anatomy of a page also resonated with the way I was looking at the physical shapes created by the paragraphs on the page. Her personification of the page also appealed to me because she seems to be viewing a page as an object in itself instead of just a surface, which is a concept that I consider very often.
