If drawing "develops in relation to context", then the artist is the creator and curator of their own environment which in turn creates their art
Drawing is defined by the process, not the medium, technique, look, audience etc.
Drawing presented as such a well thought-out, purposeful exercise but does it always have to be? - how does Euan Uglow's "more searching, expressive approach" fit with this?

Analysis of Drawing:

the Power of drawing - drawing as a powerful tool of expression and intellectual questioning, a probe
the Condition of drawing - the process of drawing and its role in an artists thought process, the idea that drawing can never be observed because an artist is never an objective, impartial observer, all about the artist - how THEY see and think about the world.
the Expanse of drawing - its critical ability suggests a necessary contextual and researched element - (can that just be through life experience - living?)

Suggests it depends on others - always drawing FROM something
about exercising empathy - is this the right word? can sociopaths not draw?

"have to be beside yourself to draw" - beside yourself? or INSIDE yourself? - are you the OBSERVER? or CREATOR?
"drawing is thinking" - so maybe it is more a record of being IN your body rather than BESIDE it?
